Praise
Praise the bounce of each curl
jazz notes chorusing at every spring
Praise the sun that nibbles away at my
“I can’t get out of bed today”s
Praise the lover who swiftly averts their gaze
with a smile and a face
overcome by a heatwave
Praise the high pitch jingle
of an infant laughing
Praise the mountains
the rivers
the oceans uninterrupted
Praise the will of my grandmothers' granddaughters
our hands still healing
our bodies still homing
blueprints of the immortal
Praise the slippery of my foreign tongue
the gold of my exhale
mines overflowing in my lungs
Praise the flame of this existence
the jewel in my resilience
the honey lemon taste of yesterday’s yesterday.
